Mortal Kombat X left off in a rather intriguing place. The good guys won (barely); Shinnok was defeated and Earthrealm was saved once again. There were…unforeseen consequences though. Raiden is on the warpath after getting corrupted by the Jinsei, and that’s probably not a good thing. Meanwhile, the defenders that remain have gone back to their lives, Johnny Cage included. Apparently Hollywood is still operating in Earthrealm, and Johnny is regained some of his old self after returning to work as an action hero.
In most Mortal Kombat games, Johnny Cage’s moves had a tendency to feel a bit awkward despite how flashy they were. That problem appears to be solved in Mortal Kombat 11; everything he does is couched in that overly-confident swagger of his, as if he’s still playing to the camera. If Johnny Cage is in even better form than last time, then signs are good that the other characters are as well.
Mortal Kombat 11 launches for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch on April 23.
