A Plague Tale: Innocence is a title that’s been flying slightly under our radar for a while now. First announced at E3 in 2017, Asobo Studios’ tale of siblings on the run from the Black Death indeed caught our eye back then, at least. But while we know that the two kids are orphans who have to deal with swarms of death and disease-carrying rats, how and why did they get into this predicament in the first place? Well, thankfully, we have a new story trailer that you can see below to help assist with this. There’s still a bit of mystery here, though, but it’s quite captivating nonetheless.
Set in France after the Hundred Years’ War, we see our loving family start out well off. Well, at least until the Inquisition comes knocking. After refusing to hand over their son Hugo, the parents meet a grisly fate. And now older sibling Amicia has to lead them both to safety, through a variety of dangerous environments filled with arguably more dangerous people, as the clip shows with some gameplay footage spliced in of the two maneuvering around rats and knights. But why does everyone suddenly want Hugo? Why is this family so important? And how serious is a certain infection at the end? We’ll just have to find out on May 14, when A Plague Tale: Innocence comes out for PC, PS4, and XB1.
