NetherRealm Studios today dropped the launch trailer for Mortal Kombat 11, which features the classic film theme.
The 1995 Mortal Kombat film wasn’t very good, but it did provide an awesome main theme. The theme was so popular that Midway eventually adopted it for the games. Now, it returns in epic fashion in the Mortal Kombat 11 launch trailer.
In Mortal Kombat 11, Raiden has disrupted the timeline for the last time. Kronika, the keeper of time, enacts a plan to reset the clock and restore the timeline. To do this, Korinka enlists help from warriors from present and past who are unhappy with the current state of events. Meanwhile, Raiden recruits his own warriors to stop the keeper of time from erasing the current reality.
The trailer features plenty of fan-pleasing moments, including a duel between the past and current rulers of Outworld and a confrontation between brothers. Most disappointingly, however, is the confirmation that Sektor and Cyrax will appear in the campaign, but aren’t playable. Frost, the female Lin Kuei introduced in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, will be playable instead and appears to lead the Cyber Lin Kuei.
Mortal Kombat 11 is out April 23 on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Switch.
