The Contra series has been dormant for quite sometime now, almost eight years in fact. The last game, Hard Corps: Uprising, came out for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 all the way back in 2011. With such a gap between releases and Konami’s odd attitude towards game development over the past few years, one could be forgiven for thinking that Contra was gone for good. Thankfully, that’s not the case.
During Nintendo’s E3 2019 Direct, it was revealed that Contra is indeed alive and well. Contra Rogue Corps will be coming to the Switch on September 24. The game will feature plenty of top-down and over-the-shoulder shoot-em-up action, and it’ll give players their choice of four characters to wreak havoc with. Additionally, Contra Rogue Corps will feature both local and online coopeartive play with up to four players. Sounds good already, doesn’t it?
