Konami Doesn’t Know why Sony Pulled PES 2019 from the PS+ July Lineup

Konami today revealed that they have no idea why PES 2019 was pulled from the July PS+ lineup.

Every month, Sony gives away two free PS4 games to every PS+ subscribers. These can be any range of titles, including Sony first-party titles, third-party titles, or even indie titles. For the month of July 2019, players were supposed to get PES 2019 and Horizon Chase Turbo. However, at the last minute, PES 2019 was yanked from the lineup and replaced with Detroit: Become Human Digital Deluxe Edition.

At the time, it was unknown why PES 2019 was remove, or who made the call to pull it. However, today we now know Sony made that call. In a very short statement to Gamespot, Konami confirmed that Sony opted to pull the game. Konami did not provide any further elaboration:

“This decision was made by Sony and so please make an inquiry to Sony.”

Sony did not provide any additional statement as to why they made the sudden swap. It’s something we may never get an answer too. Anyways, Konami is currently gearing up for the release of PES 2020, which launches September 10 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
