Infinity Ward Teases New Customization System for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

Infinity Ward has teased its new Create-a-Class system for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer reveal is still more than a week away, but Infinity Ward insists on giving players information ahead of it. Last week, the developer released five minutes of raw Gunfight footage. Now, we have our first look at the game’s customization system.

The Gunsmith is Infinity Ward’s take on a weapon customization system. In Modern Warfare, players have five slots on both their primary and secondary weapons they can fill with various attachments. However, there are more areas on a gun then you’ll be able to fill. For example, an assault rifle has nine areas players can augment, but you’ll only be able to choose five. Options include muzzles, laser sights, optics, stocks, grips, magazines, underbarrels, barrels, and perks.

The Gunsmith is a huge departure from Infinity Ward’s past titles. While the studio originated the Create-a-Class system, in recent years they opted to adopt Treyarch’s Pick 10 system. Based on what we know about Gunsmith so far, it would appear that Pick 10 is out. We’ll find out a lot more next week at the multiplayer reveal.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out October 25 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
