Bubble Bobble is Getting A Sequel in the Form of Bubble Bobble 4 Friends

Taito’s classic 80’s arcade title Bubble Bobble — which saw up to two players dubbed Bub and Bob, take on over a hundred stages by trapping and subsequently clearing enemies by trapping them in bubbles — is getting a follow-up following a decade since the last original title in the series. While the past decade has seen the series remade and ported to several devices, mobile included, Bubble Bobble 4 Friends, confirmed as a Nintendo Switch exclusive, will see the debut of four-player co-op for the first time.

The premise, outside of this, is essentially the same with players working together to clear stages of all enemies present — firing off and trapping enemies in bubbles in the process. Strictly Limited Games have also been confirmed to be distributing limited edition physical copies of the game and will release the same time as the standard digital versions. Bubble Bobble 4 Friends will release on Switch in Europe on November 19, with those in the US having to wait until sometime in the first quarter of 2020. Check out the game’s debut trailer below.
