EA and Ghost Games today announced the next entry in the Need for Speed franchise, Heat.
Need for Speed Heat takes players to Palm City where they’ll compete for cash in the Speedhunter Showdown by day, and for reputation in underground races at night. In a return from previous entries, cops will play a big role during the game and it’s day-night cycle. During the day, cops are more casual. However, once night rolls around, they become far more aggressive. Led by Lt. Mercer, Palm City’s police force are determined to keep the streets safe.
The trailer also confirms the return of customization, which was neutered in the previous game to make way for microtransactions. Ghost Games confirmed that customization items are earned in-game by completing races and earning high-scores. The Speed Cards from Need for Speed Payback are gone forever. The developer did not say how they intend to monetize the game. As for when we’ll seem some actual gameplay, Ghost Games confirmed it’ll show off the game on the Gamescome: Opening Night Live. That event takes place August 19 at 11am PDT.
Need for Speed Heat is out November 8 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
