Instant Action, Co-Op, Republic Commandos, More Coming to Star Wars Battlefront II

DICE today announced multiple game modes, features, and units coming to Star Wars Battlefront II over the next few months.

Once one of biggest launch disasters in gaming history, Star Wars Battlefront II has steadily rebuilt itself. Over the past year, DICE has added four new heroes, Geonosis, new units, and a new large-scale game mode (Capital Supremacy). Star Wars Battlefront II is now a game beloved by players, and it’s about to get bigger. There are still quite a few months left in 2019, and DICE intend to release a lot of new content in the coming months.

First up is Felucia, a map they announced earlier this year. Built specifically for Capital Supremacy, the map has the Republic guarding a Felucian farming community full of valuable medicinal plants as the CIS closes in. Felucia arrives in September.

September also brings a new four-player co-op mode to Battlefront II focused on the Clone Wars era. In it, players must team up to partake in massive battles on all five Clone Wars planets (Naboo, Kamino, Kashyyyk, Geonosis, and Felucia). Depending on what side you choose, the experience changes.

Finally, after much begging, Instant Action finally returns to the Battlefront franchise. This single player game mode pits you against an AI army in a large-scale game mode. Instant Action is, essentially, Conquest with both factions battling it out over five Command Posts and draining each other’s tickets. The mode comes out in September and is available at launch on all five Clone Wars planets. Now, if only we can get this Conquest mode as a multiplayer mode.

Unfortunately, DICE did not announce any new heroes or villains, but did confirm new units, reinforcements, and appearances are on their way. The fan-favorite Clone Commandos finally make their appearance in a Battlefront game in September. Meanwhile, new appearances for Luke Skywalker and the CIS droids are in the works. New content that ties into The Rise of Skywalker, including a brand new planet, are coming later this year. We’ll have to wait and see what DICE has in store for us.

Star Wars Battlefront II is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
