Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers NieR Collaboration Now Available

While we’ve seen many smaller updates since Shadowbringers was released back in July, Vows of Virtue, Deeds of Cruelty is the first of many big updates for Final Fantasy XIV.┬áThis brings some massive changes to crafting and gathering, the addition of new housing, new game+, a new beast tribe and so much more. Of course, the biggest attraction in this update is the NieR Automata collaboration Alliance Raid that sees 24-players fighting against and alongside some familiar faces.

Our first reactions are positive, as this looks like a solid quality of life update that brings also brings a lot of much needed features. The only things that immediately jump out that are in need of improvement are that Fellowships need a better search option, and the new launcher could go for a dark theme.

Some of the smaller, yet fantastic changes that may have flown under the radar are a removal gil restrictions when transferring a character to another server (it was roughly 10 million before), marketboard favorites have been added and carry between servers (not to mention don’t reset every update), the duty finder layout has been significantly improved with drop-down menus, and crossbar transparency sliders have been added, among various others.

This isn’t the end of 5.1, though, as throughout the weeks, we will see 5.11 and 5.15 bring the Ishgard Restoration project, The Epic Alexander Ultimate Raid, the new PVP Frontline map “Onsal Hakair (Danshig Naadam), and of course Blue Mage level cap and new abilities.

For an extensive look at all the changes and additions, be sure to look at the lengthy patch notes.

Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers and 5.1 Vows of Virtue, Deeds of Cruelty is available right now for PlayStation 4 and PC.
