Nioh 2 Releasing Next March

The follow-up to 2017’s long-in-development Nioh, finally has a release date. The sequel to the acclaimed action RPG, developed by Team Ninja and originally announced at E3 2018 during Sony’s presentation, will be releasing first for PS4, on March 13. What’s more an open beta is planned to take place next week and will run up until November 10. “I know many of you have been waiting and we thank you for your patience while we worked to set an official date.” Nioh 2’s producer, Fumihiko Yasuda explained, speaking on the official PlayStation blog.

“One of the primary reasons for not rushing to set a launch date was to ensure that we can achieve a ‘genuine evolution’ from Nioh, which to us meant that we needed to bring in fresh new elements while retaining the things that we felt were right from the first game. Although there weren’t enough significant changes in the Alpha, we now feel that we have come much closer to reaching our goals.” The original Nioh released in February 2017 for the PS4, but eventually found its way onto PC that same year, late on in November. It’s unclear whether the sequel will follow the same path, but for the moment at least, Nioh 2 remains a PS4 exclusive.
