New Training Features and First Competition Announced for Pokémon Sword and Shield

This is the final stretch for Pokémon Sword and Shield news as the games will arrive next week. Today, a trailer was posted to reveal some very helpful features. There is also information about a competition taking place as soon as the games launch!

The video gives us a glimpse into some new ways of training and raising Pokémon. There are mints which can change a Pokémon’s nature instantly which helps give a boost to certain stats. Speaking of stat changes, supplements such as Iron and Calcium are back but you can now use them in bulk. There is a way of passing egg moves to Pokémon of the same species which really beats having to continuously hatch them. Plus, you get to access your PC from anywhere in the Galar region. It all seems like some hand holding but for competitive players it’s going to be so much easier.

In addition to the new trailer comes details of an event. From November until January 2020, you will be able to find Gigantamax Butterfree more often. Only certain Pokémon receive Gigantamax forms which gives them a new appearance, increased strength and new abilities. They are still very rare to encounter but maybe you’ll get lucky when venturing with friends.

Also, a competition is taking place called Galar Beginnings from December 6 until December 8. But sign-ups take place as soon as the games release. This is an online competition against other trainers in a single battle format. You will register 3 to 6 Pokémon eligible competitors. Some like Zacian, Zamazenta and Mew are not allowed. You do not need to register with Pokémon Globabl Link for this competition. More details will be provided at a later time.
