Death Stranding Debuts at Second in UK Sales Chart Behind Modern Warfare

Hideo Kojima’s long-awaited Death Stranding has stormed to second place in the UK sales chart.

The action title, which is the Japanese developer’s first fully-fledged title since Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, was released on November 8 for PlayStation 4.

And Death Stranding, which has received a mixed reception from critics, has taken its place behind Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in the sales chart.

EA Sports’ FIFA 20 held onto its third-place position in the chart, while Next Level Games’ critically acclaimed Luigi’s Mansion 3 has dropped from second to fourth.

Death Stranding, which will be coming to PC in 2020, transports players to a post-apocalyptic United States and has them taking control of Sam Porter Bridges.

Bridges, a courier delivering supplies to isolated settlements, is tasked with reconnecting the U.S. by linking up different colonies to the Chiral Network.

Kojima’s title, which debuted at Sony’s E3 press conference in 2016, features an ensemble cast that includes Mads Mikkelsen, Norman Reedus, Troy Baker and filmmaker Guillermo del Toro.
