Treyarch today dropped the first details about what to expect out of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 3.
With Season 2 wrapping up in a few days, it was inevitable that we’d get out first details about the next season. Season 3 comes packed with all the usual trappings of a typical Call of Duty Season, but also kicks off with a timed event. Season 3 officially kicks off April 22 with updates going live on April 20 for Black Ops Cold War and April 21 for Warzone.
Season 3 kicks off with the Hunt for Adler event. This limited-time event tasks players with completing challenges across Black Ops Cold War and Warzone to earn rewards, including weapon charms and calling cards. Completing a full set in either Cold War or Warzone unlocks and exclusive skin for Adler.
In terms of new Operators, Season 3 includes four; three for the Warsaw Pact and one for NATO. Wraith unlocks with the purchase of the Battle Pass, and Knight and Antonov join the mayhem later in the season. For NATO Forces, Captain John Price from Modern Warfare joins the fight. Anyone who owns Black Ops Cold War or buys the game at the start of Season 3 will unlock him for free.
As for new weaponry, players will be able to unlock the classic PPSh-41 SMG (Tier 15) and Swiss K31 Sniper Rifle (Tier 31) through the Battle Pass. Players can also earn or purchase the Ballistic Knife. During the Season, Treyarch also intends to add CARV.2 Tactical Rifle, AMP63 pistol, and baseball bat melee weapon.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players will be happy to know they’re getting three new 6v6 multiplayer maps and a new multi-team map. Yamantau and Diesel join the 6v6 playlist at launch (Diesel also serves as a Gunfight map). Meanwhile, Black Ops II favorite Standoff joins the playlist later during the season. Finally, Duga joins the multi-team playlist. Duga also serves as a new Outbreak map in Zombies.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
