Destiny 2: Season of the Splicer Arrives May 11, Vault of Glass Returns Later

Bungie today unveiled that the new season of Destiny 2, Season of the Splicer, lands on May 11.

Destiny 2: Season of the Splicer focuses on a new Vex threat against the inhabitants of the Last City. The Vex have managed to create a simulation that plunges the city into eternal night. Sensing they can’t do this alone, the Vanguard teams up with Mithrax, Kell of the House of Light, who can help Guardians understand Splicer tech.

Guardians will hack the Vex simulation in Override, the season’s six-player activity to steal Vex code. There’s also a weekly pinnacle mission called Expunge where you’ll uncover and exploit vulnerabilities in the Vex Network. Players will engage in both activities to take down the simulation and restore the sun.

Old school Destiny fans will be delighted to hear that the iconic Vault of Glass raid returns on May 22. Players will travel deep into the vault in the hunt for Atheon, Time’s Conflux. The raid features quality-of-life improvements along with some new challenges alongside old favorites.

The season also adds Armor Synthesis, Bungie’s controversial transmog system. There’ll also be a new Season Pass, which contains the Cryosthesia 77K Stasis Sidearm.

Destiny 2: Season of the Splicer kicks off May 11 and runs through August 24.
