Fierce Deity Sword is a heavy two-handed weapon, and Link swings it slower than one-handed melee weapons or strikes delivered with a two-handed spear. While you should be wary of your defenses with slower attacks and the inability to use a shield, the Fierce Deity Sword will typically deal greater damage per hit than the average one-handed melee weapon.

Since the Fierce Deity Sword is a metal weapon, the weapon will attract or amplify environmental lightning and incoming lightning attacks. However, unlike wooden weapons the Fierce Deity Sword is protected from fire elemental damage and will not burn when subjected to fire.
