After hinting at one game a few weeks ago and humorously teasing a forthcoming announcement yesterday, Tommo and SNK have finally revealed more games coming to the Neo Geo X. Starting in April, five volumes will be released with three games each, beginning with April's release of NEOGEO X Classics: Volume 1. This will include Metal Slug 2, Sengoku and Top Hunter, which is a pretty fantastic combination of games. Metal Slug 2 is a wholly underrated entry in the series that, although plagued with slowdown on MVS, could certainly see that corrected here. Sengoku and Top Hunter are both great sidescrollers, with Top Hunter's colorful graphics and adorable characters making it a worthy adventure.

After that, 12 more games will be released throughout the year. Here's a complete list:

ART OF FIGHTING 3

BLAZING STAR

BREAKERS REVENGE

FATAL FURY: MARK OF THE WOLVES

KIZUNA ENCOUNTER

THE KING OF FIGHTERS '96

THE LAST BLADE 2

METAL SLUG 2

SAMURAI SHODOWN 3

SAVAGE REIGN

SENGOKU

SHOCK TROOPERS

SUPER SIDEKICKS 3 - THE NEXT GLORY

TOP HUNTER

WORLD HEROES JET

Additionally, a "ROCKET" High-speed Data Transfer and Charging Travel Cable will be included with each copy at no additional cost, which should certainly help remedy one of the hardware's main problems. It's a bit odd that *every* volume will include the ROCKET, adding unnecessary cost and multiple cables to those who buy all five, but it's the kind of inexplicable Neo Geo X marketing/design oddity that we've grown accustomed too.

The first system update will be included with the first volume of games, which is said to fix issues owners have complained about. Finally, a much-needed travel case is in development and is set for an April 2013 release.

All in all, this is a huge leap forward for the console that firmly confirms its ongoing support. If the system update solves some of the glaring issues and the games are sold at a reasonable price, the Neo Geo X could morph into something special.
