No doubt, Mortal Kombat has a ravenous following. With the announcement of MKX, that fanbase blew up with excitement, chomping at the proverbial bit just to see some gameplay from the title. After tonight's Sony conference, they showed off the first footage of the game, highlighting all that gory action folks have come to expect from the series. From the approximately three minute montage we were privy to iconic characters such as Scorpion and Sub Zero duking it out with bone-crushing moves and those lovely, lovely Fatalities.

From the footage, the game seems to meld calculated, psychology-heavy tactics with the adored, hard-hitting combo-play that we all have come to know and love. From the video, graphics and animations were especially fluid, particularly those segments involving the "bone cam," which showed off select moves literally breaking the bones of foes.

No further release date was given for the title, but from the looks of it, it would seem that the devs have learned a lot from current fighting games, including their own lineage of MK titles and the more recent Gods Among Us. Do check out the trailer below for all that intense action.
