Here's an interesting release window. Microsoft and Epic Games' upcoming Gears of War spin-off based around Baird and the Cole Train is now scheduled for a March 19th release. Considering all of the past games have been released within the fall timeline, this comes to us as a surprise. It doesn't help that the first quarter of 2013 is overstuffed with games (Tomb Raider, The Last of Us, Bioshock Infinite, God of War: Ascension, SimCity and Metal Gear Rising just to name a few), but I suppose a AAA title such as Gears of War could take the attention away from most of the mid-tier to smaller releases.

Maybe the companies know something we don't, such as the next line of consoles releasing at the end of the 2013, and they don't want to be overshadowed by it. It could be a possibility, but expect a number of companies to start pushing their games into the spring and fall release windows. Gears of War Judgment is being developed by Epic Games studio, People Can Fly, coming off their over-the-top shooter Bulletstorm, and will be released exclusively on the Xbox 360.
