Despite Tales of Xillia still not even being revealed for the West, Namco has gone ahead and announced a successor titled "Tales of Xillia 2" at this year's Tales Festival. Xillia 2 takes place one year after the incidents of the first game and stars a man named Ludgar, his cat, Lulu, and a spirited young girl named Elle. Xillia 2 also looks to support a Devil May Cry style combat system when entering battle, swapping between swordplay and gunplay on a whim.

The trailer also demonstrated multiple paths to choose from; not in choosing specific pieces of dialogue like we've come to expect in Western RPGs, but more of a second-person narrative during cutscenes where you can choose one action or another. Either come out with your hands up or jump over cover and fight the gun-toting individual.

Tales of Xillia 2 will be released in Japan this Winter for the Playstation 3, and if we get the first in North America by early next year, expect the sequel to hit, if we're lucky, in 2014.
