It’s for that reason and that reason only — and because somebody registered the Casual Gamer domain before we had a chance too — that every month we present to you a quick look at a mobile game that deserves your attention regardless of its place on the gaming spectrum.

Do you enjoy leaning over your phone and making precise movements with your mobile gaming finger of choice? Of course you do or you wouldn’t be here. Since we’ve established that that’s the case, we have a good one for you this month in Rolly Vortex.

Mechanically-speaking, Rolly Vortex is a simple mobile game where you guide a ball endlessly down the center of your screen. That’s all you have to do. To do so you can use whatever finger you like and maybe even a stylus if you have one. Whatever you choose, all you’ll need it for is to navigate around the circular wall that you’re rolling along.

Making this slightly more difficult will be the walls/blocks in your way. These obstacles can span about 75% of the area you have to navigate and can also be moving at that. As you pass each obstacle a counter at the top will go up by one and you just keep going until you can’t keep up. Along your path will also be gems that you can pick up. These gems will allow you to buy more aesthetically-pleasing environments to play in. These won’t be easy to unlock, however, as levels or Vortexs cost about a thousand gems at least.

The other thing you can unlock is different types of balls to roll around as. They don’t hold any special properties, but change is always good. You can unlock these by completing certain challenges during each run like not collecting a single gem through thirty levels or leveling up five times. You can go through the different options and see the criteria needed to unlock each one and there are quite a few to unlock.
