Persona 5 Confidant Guide

After so many years, Persona 5 is finally here. It’s a game with an incredibly deep and entertaining combat system, and a intriguing plot, but one aspect that makes up the bulk of the campaign is the Confidant system (formerly known as Social Links).

This allows players to interact with various characters around Tokyo and learn of their stories, all while at the same time getting benefits such as being able to switch out party members mid-battle, or reversing a dire situation into a beneficial one.

Given that there are so many Confidants with such varying personalities, we wanted to share a guide to which responses are best received by each individual. This ensures you won’t be wasting unnecessary time spending days and evenings with Confidants, and leveling them up quickly. Please note all the values are when you have a Persona with the corresponding Tarot Card in your arsenal.

All Dialogue Confidants in Persona 5

This guide is only for Confidants that require dialogue choices to progress, so ones that are automatically leveled up through the story (such as Magician) or those that require other means of progressing, such as Strength, will not be listed here.

UPDATE: With the release of Persona 5 Royal, we’ve added the new “Followup” dialogue choices to each Confidant. Click here if you’re looking for the full Persona 5 Royal Confidant Guide as there are a couple of changes.

      • Yeah I know they are automatic, but it will be good to put it here completely, so the new player know something about them, my example are what this rank give you, from one to ten, and Twin Warden also a good guide to put it here.

          • What’s a the spoiler here? The face of the confidants?
Everyone knows there are 22 tarot cards in Persona.
If you put the missing tarot cards you’ll reveal the traitor and the final boss, I think that’s a bigger spoiler.

          • But actually, what you wrote is not the biggest spoiler? Playing the game and excluding confidants that is not in this list, it is easily possible to guess who is the traitor and the final boss, which I even didn’t know was confidants in the beginning…

          • That’s the point, he said “the whole page is a spoiler”, now it is.
And yeah the traitor is easy, but the final boss is not. Who would thought the the final boss would be “fake Igor”? The guy who gives you the power to begin.
Playing all the others Persona games and knowing Igor’s personality, this is really unexpected.
The best part is that if you play the game a second time, you begin to see various hints to that end.

          • Boy am I glad that I didn’t scroll down here until after I beat the game.

          • Well you know, this is Internet, if you don’t want any spoiler, better get off from internet.

          • I think you misinterpret my comment.

I wasnt complaining about being spoiled I had already completed the game by the time I posted the comment.

I was referring to the comment “twin warden I agree, the rest is spoiler”

When in reality the entire page were on is a spoiler. it tells you the confidants(which if you cant guess that a face portrait of someone in this game means confidant… come on)

And the rest are auto level ups so it doesnt really give you anything about the major *spoiler* for who the traitor is or the final boss. You can piece two and two together to make assumptions but without actually knowing it’s a bit of a stretch to say

“so and so is not on here therefore they must be the main villain”

      • Relax, I don’t mean to be rude and there are no harm to ask this, don’t be negative. While they at it, it be good to put a complete confidant here.

        • not a good idea since they spoil the ending. besides, the ones here are the only ones that require you to answer correctly with the required persona arcana equipped. theres a separate guide for the twins since it requires you to combine personae with certain abilities that could be difficult. you might have to search elsewhere.

  1. best confident guide. The other sites are infested with ads and fractured into multiple pages per confident

  2. Sorry if this is a bit late, but you only get the full points if you have a persona equipped that shares that confidants arcana I believe

  3. Have you noticed at some times it will say “since i have ‘this persona with this arcana’ my bond will be stronger” or something, that means its a boost to the bonding you will get 1 point higher depending on the answers

  4. It’s a great guide, it has been useful to me 🙂
Having said that i think this guide could use date of when it start to be avalible the social link and how to start it. It could be done while keeping the min info like saying, go there and talk the confidant once, having certain social stats or work somewhere twice.
