The craze of the hit mobile game Pokémon GO has unfortunately been on the decline as of late. All this may be due to numerous glitches, updates, accidents and more. The response from fans during its initial few days released to the public, however, was filled with joy and wonder. Everyone was experiencing the phenomenon like it was their first time all over again. Unfortunately, we began noticing it just wasn't as fun as it was a month ago. So, to try and recapture players that may have ditched it or possibly deleted it already, we've come up with a list of ways to bring the fun back.

1. Community Events

mewtwo

While gym battles around town could count as a community event, it would be great to see some variety added to Pokémon GO. When the initial trailer released, we saw trainers gathering together in order to try and capture Mewtwo. While this kind of event may come in the near future there hasn't been anything hinting at the implementation. Since fans are literally playing in and around their community, dropping various "boss-like" Pokémon into the game should be fun. Coming together to battle one will yield plenty of Pokéballs, coins, and maybe even Stardust. They all don't have to be as big as Mewtwo either, just place a high level Pidgey at the library and other PokéStops and folks will gladly beat it down for some goods.

2. Shiny Pokémon

Ever since the release of Pokémon Gold and Silver at the turn of the new millennium, trainers have been determined to find shiny Pokémon in their handheld games. They are rare, odd, and absolutely worthless. No, that's not true. Shiny variations add some variety to one's team and are seen as a bragging right between competitors. Incorporating these Pokémon into Pokémon GO will make the hunt even more challenging. There are already slim chances of running into one playing video games, so they'll definitely be worth wanting for the mobile game. Perhaps there could be easier ways of acquiring one such as community events or after a certain achievement is fulfilled. Shiny Pokémon can really get everyone back out into the wild.

3. Friend List

friend list

So many online games include friend lists of some kind, even consoles show off who is online playing around with an app or game. Sure, you're playing Pokémon GO on a phone and can easily text or call a friend but we're all hoping for a much easier way to see who's playing. Once loading the app, you should be allowed to see any friends or other players in the area. It will definitely take some tinkering to get right but it was kind of act like a StreetPass device as well. Pass by someone playing or hang out with your own group to earn more points for your selected teams. The lists could even show their strongest Pokémon, their most commonly caught, the most recent, and more. It's a fun way to see what your friends and acquaintances are up to. There is potential for friend lists to incorporate plenty of features.

4. Characters

While Pokémon GO isn't necessarily a core game in the series, it is able to get away with a few non-canon references. We already know the names of the Eevee brothers from the Pokémon anime are used in order to evolve your Eevee. How about adding a few other characters from the show or games for fans to enjoy. Throw in Jesse and James from Team Rocket. They don't have to appear but perhaps naming a Koffing or Ekans after them will make them stronger when evolved, similar to the Eevee brothes. Or, if physical NPC's are placed in the game, players can challenge them and earn coins, Pokéballs, and other items like they do in the handheld titles. There isn't much interaction with any character in Pokémon GO besides the professor and team leaders, so adding some more could create a bit of a storyline or something more to play around with. There are thousands of characters that can be added which opens up all kinds of routes for them to be implemented.

5. New Generations

pokemongenerations

Of course this has to be included on the list! Adding more Pokémon to the game is bound to happen and it's just a matter of time. With 721 total Pokémon discovered and more on the way, they need to be added soon for fans to keep playing. While not many have actually caught them all yet, keeping players searching for others will help keep downloads up and trainers out exploring. It may be wise for the next generation to be included ahead of schedule. We don't want Pokémon GO to have just fifteen minutes of fame, but at this rate and numerous issues, there needs to be something to keep the fun going. Johto would be the next generation of Pokémon added with about 100 new creatures to catch. With more to catch, the fun is bound to continue.

There are possibly dozens to hundreds of ways to make improvements to the gameplay of Pokémon GO. This list covers a few fun ways fans can keep enjoying the app. We can only hope these and other updates can keep the game going.
