Metal Gear Rising Artist Signs On for Mech Designs in Xenoblade Chronicles X

Over the weekend, we posted a story on Xenoblade Chronciesl X picking up Gundam writer Kazuho Hyodo. Today, though, some more details are available on the artists working on the game. The info comes directly from director Tetsuya Takahashi’s Twitter; the following was translated by our good friends over at Siliconera.

“First up, Mr. Takayuki Yanase. He always manages to give shape to the exact image I communicate, so I have faith in him. For this game, too, he’s created some very cool Dolls (robots).”

“Then there’s Mr. Kouichi Mugitani. Xeno fans already know him, though. Naturally, I’ve asked for his help as a core member of the staff.”

Takayuki Yanase is best known for his work on Ghost in the Shell: Arise, Tenkai Knights and Metal Gear Rising. Coincidentally enough, his contributions to MGR were mechanical designs. By our count, that sort of makes him rather perfect for the position.

As for Mugitani, well his portfolio includes being production designer for Xenosaga I, Xenosaga II and Xenosaga III. He also did some of the character illustrations for Xenosaga III. In other words, these two additions to the team really round out an already stacked studio, making Chronicles X perhaps the most anticipated JRPG of 2015 and perhaps the last few years.
