Publisher Digerati today announced release dates for the console versions of 1979 Revolution: Black Friday.

The interactive adventure drama will launch first on PlayStation 4 in North America on July 31 and August 1 for Europe.

Following on from its announcement today, the title will arrive on August 2 for Nintendo Switch. However, Xbox One users will have to wait until its release on August 3.

Pre-orders have opened for 1979 Revolution on the Nintendo eShop in North America, Digerati confirmed, with the European store taking them from tomorrow, July 18. Likewise, the Xbox Games Store will start pre-orders tomorrow for both North America and Europe.

Digerati has said that there will be a twenty percent discount on all pre-orders placed.

PlayStation Plus subscribers in Europe will receive a twenty percent price drop during 1979 Revolution’s launch week, though the publisher did not confirm the same for North America.

1979 Revolution, which was released on mobile devices and PC in 2016, is based on historical events and real-life stories. Players are transported to Tehran, Iran, where they take control of a young photojournalist, Reza Shirazi, during the protests against the Shah (the king).

Written and directed by Navid Khonsari, who has worked on titles such as Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Alan Wake and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, 1979 Revolution is banned in Iran and its creator has “been accused of being a U.S. spy.”

According to Digerati, Iranian officials have labeled 1979 Revolution as “pro-American propaganda.”
