It's been quite a while, but now four years after it was initially crowd-funded -- and with intrigued followers and backers alike only having a vague "Fall" window to fall back on -- Danish studio Gears for Breakfast have finally confirmed the release date for their upcoming debut title, A Hat in Time, during this year's Gamescom. The 3D platformer will be available October 5.

On top of today's announcement, the studio has also reaffirmed their support for mods too by ellaborating on what players will have to access to upon the game's release. For those purchasing on PC, players will be able to access both the in-game script as well as the level editor not to mention, most important of all, the ability to bring in custom-made hats. The developer has already confirmed that as part of their own brand of custom mods, game-specific cosmetics from the likes of Freedom Planet 2 & Psychonauts 2 will also be available alongside other future game-specific hats via notable indie titles such as Hyper Light Drifter, Shovel Knight, OneShot and more.

A Hat in Time will be available on PS4, Xbox One & PC.
