It was reported today that Bob Hoskins, the beloved, Oscar nominated actor passed away at the age of 71. Throughout his career, he's played many-a-roles, starring in films such as Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Hook. However, Mr. Hoskins was also the only actor to have ever portrayed one of video game's most iconic characters.

While the 1993's Super Mario Bros. film was a complete flop, it did bring young fans to appreciate Hoskins' dedication to his craft. Although the actor has gone on record stating it was the worst thing he's ever done, and despite the terribleness of the movie itself, we still loved Hoskins as Nintendo's mascot. After all, it's not every day that we got to see Mario on the big screen.

Bob Hoskins, you were a talented actor, and one that somehow managed to steal the show as everybody's favorite plumber. And don't worry, we'll look after Luigi for you.
