Since the first game released back in 2003, Call of Duty has slowly grown to become the international FPS phenomenon it is today, with last year seeing the launch of both Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and the free-to-play battle royale Call of Duty: Warzone.
As fans eagerly await news on the next entry in the series which is rumored to take place during World War II, Activision has recently shared two key accomplishments that the FPS franchise has managed to reach. Since October 2003, Call of Duty as a series has sold over 400 million copies, while Warzone has surpassed 100 million players since its launch in March 2020, which is up from 75 million players back in August. Both of these milestones continue to reinforce the series’ position as the juggernaut that it is, and that momentum only looks to continue as Season 3 of Black Ops Cold War and Warzone kicks off later today.
