MGM has picked their new Tomb Raider and it’s Ex Machina and The Danish Girl’s Alicia Vikander.
This information comes by way of Variety, who reports that although meetings took place with other actresses, like The Force Awakens’s Daisy Ridley, Vikander was announced today as the one who got the role.
The movie will be directed by Roar Uthaug of Norway. Uthaug has said that the reboot will take cues from the recent video game reboot, which was a huge success. This means that Lara will be younger and less skillful at raiding tombs. The movie does not yet have a release date.
Vikander is most well known for her role as the wife of the protagonist in The Danish Girl for which she won an Oscar and as Ava the artificial intelligence in Ex Machina which she won a Golden Globe and a BAFTA Award for.
