With the availability of Nintendo's SNES Mini disappearing in a matter of minutes in retail both big and small, physically or digitally, could Amazon UK be trying to, if not putting the inevitable scalpers off, at the very least trying to reduce the possibility of pre-orders (let alone actual SNES Mini units; the console won't actually be shipped out until September 29 in the UK) popping up on other sites for three times the asking price. What looks to be an e-mail sent out to customers whom ordered more than one unit of the console on Amazon UK's store, states that said customers will now be limited -- like everyone else -- to one unit due to, what the company claim, is a "change to the availability".

SNES Mini Amazon Email

It's unclear what this "change" is in reference to or what will in fact happen to the units now taken from out of certain customers' orders, not to mention if this is a company-wide change or just limited to the UK retail store. Hardcore Gamer has reached out to Amazon UK for clarity on the reasoning behind this change and we'll update as soon as we get an official response. Amazon have so far not issued any news on whether any future stock will be available in the foreseeable future. Nevertheless, some could see this as a step (though small) in the right direction in the fight against would-be scalpers.
