Frictional Games has announced that its latest title Amnesia Rebirth will be getting a new Adventure Mode on PlayStation 4 and 5. The Adventure Mode launched last month on PC and offers a new experience that reduces the anxiety and distressing elements in the game. The game is still the same at its core as it follows the story of Tasi Trianon. She finds herself in the desolate landscape of the Algerian desert as she battles her fears and pains to save the ones that are closest to her.

Adventure Mode will remove all the life-threatening encounters with monsters along with the harrowing sound and visual effects. All the environments will be lit up, however, so there will be no feelings of claustrophobia and trepidation. It will include a number of new puzzles, however.

“We believe that anyone who loves a good story-driven adventure game will be stoked about this new mode. Not everyone is into horror and we don’t want that to block people from experiencing Tasi’s story,” comments Fredrik. “We did something very similar when we released the Safe mode for SOMA. It was extremely well received and opened up the game to a much broader audience, something we hope will happen with Rebirth as well.”

“The game still has its very serious theme and sometimes unnerving ambiance, but the new mode feels a lot more like an Indiana Jones type of adventure in places where it would otherwise be more of a horror experience,” explains Fredrik Olsson.

Amnesia: Rebirth Adventure Mode will be a free update for PlayStation owners. The update is available now on the PlayStation Store. Another update that Frictional Games is offering is a FPS boost for PlayStation 5 owners. The game will now run at 60 FPS on the latest hardware, but will maintain its 30 FPS cap on the PS4.
