The Animal Crossing spinoff game, Happy Home Designer (announced at the Nintendo Direct), has the player being an interior designer to different animals from Animal Crossing. The player must design a house to fit the character's tastes.

In addition, Nintendo announced the Amiibo cards, special cards that act similarly to Amiibo in offering original content. The New 3DS can scan them and have the characters appear in Happy Home Designer to follow.

Nintendo will also introduce a special adapter for Nintendo 3DS and 2DS, which offers special Amiibo-esque functionality with the cards.

Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer will launch this fall.
