Larian Studios is bringing some changes and improvements to one of last years best games with Divinity: Original Sin II Definitive Edition and has shed some light on the completely revamped Arena Mode. These changes include solo gameplay, online multiplayer PVP and a pass the controller Hot Seat mode where you can play against your friends no matter where anyone is. Sixteen new characters will be introduced in Arena mode, including characters like Malady, Zandalor and Radeka being playable for the first time. Each of these characters has their own unique abilities and skills.

Arena Mode contains two game modes, Classic Deathmatch and Kill the King. Classic Deathmatch is what you'd expect, players fighting each other until only one survivor reigns victorious. Kill the King is where each team must protect a VIP from death. Each mode can be played one thirteen maps that have been optimized for tactical combat which includes five new arenas. To make these matches more interesting, each map will contain three different chest type that can be looted during battle that contain specific scrolls: the Destruction Coffer, Control Coffer and Source Coffer. Mutators can change the parameters of battle during matches, such as granting magical wings to all characters or reducing everyone's health level.

Divinity: Original Sin II Definitive Edition will be available in the Americas on August 31 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Owners of the original Divinity: Original Sin II on PC will receive the new edition as a free update. Divinity: Original Sin II is a title we were very fond of at Hardcore Gamer, and our thoughts on the title can be seen in our review.
