We're into the final quarter of 2018 and it looks as though two prominent IP's have had mixed results so far as first week sales go in the UK. Assassin's Creed Odyssey, despite receiving modestly good review scores prior, was down around a quarter compared to what 2017's Origins managed in the same period when it launched instead at the tail end of October. As always, this only counts for physical sales so it's unclear whether Odyssey has managed to recoup some of this decrease through digital sales instead.

As far as position in the charts go, Odyssey could only manage number two spot in the chart -- a not-too-surprising feat given FIFA 19 is only into its second week of availability, though even the latter itself saw a near-two thirds decrease in sales compared to its own first week showing. Meanwhile, Forza Horizon 4 -- released on October 2 -- is having opposite fortunes with Playground Games' latest release seeing the Horizon sub-series record its best ever first week sales, narrowly besting 2016's Forza Horizon 3. Whether or not the game's taking place this year in Britain itself -- namely the rural countryside -- had a bit of a sway in consumer interest, again, remains to be seen.
