Would you ever expect that 2021 would be the year that Atari got back into producing cartridges? Well that's exactly what's happening with the newly-announced Atari XP division. This is a new group within Atari focused on catering to retro game collectors out there by producing new cartridges in highly-limited fashion.

The first three games getting this collectible treatment were ones that never officially released at retail. The first three announced titles include Aquaventure, Saboteur and Yars' Return. The Collector's Editions of each include the game cart, instruction manual, box, hardcover art book, poster and certificate of authenticity.

With all that packed into each release, it makes sense that they're set to sell for a premium price of $149.99 each. They'll only be available via the AtariXP website as well as from select physical retailers. If you don't need all the extras and just want a cartridge, you'll be able to nab them at $49.99 each.

Now about the limited nature of these releases. Each Collector's Edition is being produced in quantities of 1983 each. As for the standard editions, they'll be 1500 in their first production run. Pre-orders are open now on AtariXP.com. These are just the first three releases -- Atari XP is set to bring more cartridges to gamers in the future.
