There aren't too many games about jumping marshmallows -- even fewer that are vertical platformers chock-full of enemies, power-ups, highscores and co-op shenanigans. Don't let the cutesy visuals fool you, either. While Avalanche 2: Super Avalanche is approachable, and most definitely no Dark Souls boss battle, it's tougher than the surface suggests. There's a rhythm to master, exploits to determine, baddies to bash and, possibly, a friend to humiliate. And oh, is it fun to punish your friend as you scale ever-higher toward whatever boss awaits.

While at PAX, I had a chance to jump behind the controller and test the waters myself. Conclusion: Avalanche 2 is addictive, colorful, delightfully tricky, incredibly enjoyable, addictive, strangely addictive, so damn addictive and really, ridiculously addictive. Did I mention it was also addictive? You don't have to take my word for it, though. A demo will be launching on Monday, and it's likely to steal more of your time than is appropriate.

Avalanche 2: Super Avalanche is available for pre-order at $9.99, and it's worth every penny. The full release will also include a local two-player cooperative mode, which is best described as the best way to lose a friend and gain a hobby in under 10 minutes. The demo will be available on the front page of the official site. Don't forget to vote for Avalanche 2: Super Avalanche on Steam Greenlight if you enjoy its brand of craziness.
