The release date for the first of three DLC expansions has been revealed for Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. This first expansion, titled Battle of Zhongyuan, is set to launch on June 29. At the time of publishing details are scarce. What has been announced thus far is that there will be a new weapon type, stages, enemies, a new difficulty level and more. More information will be coming "soon" but Team Ninja promises that this expansion will offer an exciting experience for both newcomers and Wo Long veterans alike.

Set across the transition from the second and third century China, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is a dark fantasy reimagining of the fall of the Han Dynasty and birth of the Three Kingdoms. The setting, battles and characters will be familiar to fans of Romance of the Three Kingdoms and Dynasty Warriors but the gameplay has more in common with Nioh. Unlike the tactical elements of Romance of the Three Kingdoms or the feeling of invincibily of one vs. one thousand in Dynasty Warriors, Wo Long is a challenging game where the players skill and timing will be the greatest determining factor in achieving victory, though it is one of the more accessible and easier to complete Soulslike games. This time period in China's history has been the subject of many of different video games and seeing some of the familiar figures such as Lu Bu and Sun Jian transformed into demonic monstrosities is part of Wo Long's appeal.

Battle of Zhongyuan is available in the Wo Long season pass for $24.99 or included with the Deluxe Eidtion for $84.99. These include Conqueror of Jiangdong that will launch in Sepetember and Upheaval in Jiangxiang in December. More details and impressions of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty can be found in our review.
