EA and DICE today formally unveiled the reveal date for the next Battlefield.

Sometimes referred to as Battlefield 6, the next entry in the Battlefield franchise will finally be unveiled on June 9. The reveal drops at 7am PDT, though it is unclear if the reveal will just be a trailer or a livestream featuring gameplay.

Though no official details have been revealed, several leaks have suggested the game is returning to a modern day setting. EA is also pulling out all the stops to make sure the game is as polished as it can be in time for launch. The largest team ever is working on the project, and it'll feature next-gen level effects and destruction. Despite this, the game is still expected to launch on PS4 and Xbox One.

The new Battlefield will likely serve as a reset for the troubled EA and DICE franchise. The series' reputation was severely hit over the previous generation due to rushed launches and questionable business practices. Battlefield 4 was nearly unplayable at launch, though DICE LA moved heaven and earth to turn it into a spectacular game. Battlefield Hardline was a decent concept, but ultimately forgotten. Finally, Battlefield V was tarnished out of the gate with a puzzling reveal, broken launch and EA cutting support early. Battlefield 1 was the sole bright spot for the franchise the entire generation.

Be sure to check back on June 9 to learn more about the next Battlefield game. The game is scheduled to launch this holiday season.
