Treyarch have tried mixing things up when it comes to Call of Duty's (and more specifically, Black Ops') campaign in the past. Black Ops 2 in 2012 introduced a levelling up system that allowed you to customize your load-out and even, in some cases, bring post-modern day weapons back into the cold war-era missions. Well the studio behind this year's Call of Duty have taken it one step further and literally opened up the entire campaign for everyone to choose from. You want to skip straight to the final mission to play it, finish it and get some joy from spoiling the end cutscene possibly? Go right ahead. Speaking to Eurogamer about the decision, Black Ops 3's campaign and Zombies director, Jason Blundell described this as an attempt to 'give players more choice'.

"It gives them the flexibility to consume the content how they want, the unlocking level system is an archaic mentality we've had since we did bedroom development back in the day - you do this, then go on to the next one. Consumers and game players in general are far more mature these days. There are so many things vying for our interests today. It's about, how do they want to consume it? Maybe they put it down on level two, and then they're in work the next day, and some guy says, 'dude, you've got to check out level four!' And he's like, 'okay, I'll have a quick look.' That's totally fine. I think it's their choice."

When asked about the potential for those to spoil the ending way before others have even neared the final proceedings, Blundell described Black Ops 3's campaign set-up to that of a Netflix drama with renowned shows like House of Cards known for being added as a complete season as opposed to an episode-by-episode basis. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 releases worldwide on November 6th.
