It's already been eight years since StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty was released to eager fans in July 2010. It was a landmark game in many ways, and Blizzard has chosen to commemorate its anniversary with some goodies for dedicated players of StarCraft II. StarCraft: Remastered players are also getting something this week, but its the launch of Patch 1.22.0 rather than party favors.

Going back to StarCraft  II, Blizzard is handing out bonuses to players from today until July 30th. During the celebration, all active players will be gifted an eighth anniversary cake portrait and have the opportunity to enjoy a 100% bonus to experience gained in co-cop commanders and for leveling up races in versus. In addition to this, celebratory fireworks and anniversary banners will be deployed every time a base structure is completed.

As for StarCraft: Remastered, patch 1.22.0 is now live. Along with some minor tweaks and changes, the patch introduces a major update to the game's ranking system. Get all the details at on the official StarCraft blog.
