Bungie put out its blog post yesterday, after pulling the final Curse of Osiris Live Stream due to the hot-water Destiny 2 finds itself in. Issues surrounding elements of the games launch, end game content and recent XP gain controversy have all put Destiny 2 in an extremely tight spot. Long story short, the community hasn’t been happy. Bungie also gives more of a breakdown and statement of things to come in their latest podcast with Luke Smith, Mark Noseworthy and Eric Osborne.

The blog post is straightforward and to the point, with features to come outlined following the opening statement. It might not be the full statement some were looking for, but that’s what the podcast is for. I’d suggest giving it a listen. The opening of the blog post reads:

“Hey everyone,

With Destiny 2’s console and PC launches behind us, we want to take some time to talk with you about Destiny 2 – specifically where it’s at today, and where it’s going. Our team has been reading feedback and working on updates to improve the game. We’ve also been reading some tough criticism about our lack of communication, and we agree we need to be more open.

Going forward, Destiny 2’s post-launch game systems, features, and updates are being designed specifically to focus on and support players who want Destiny to be their hobby – the game they return to, and a game where friendships are made. We want Destiny to be a game that fits into your life, providing you with reasons to log in and play with your friends, clans, and families. We want Destiny to be a world you want to be a part of.

A month ago, we published a list of improvements on the blog. Today, we’re going to revisit that list and update its status, and share some of the work the team is readying for December, January, and beyond.

We know it’s frustrating when there isn’t enough of a dialog with the development team. You have our commitment that we’re going to do a better job going forward.

- Luke Smith & Chris Barrett”

This is followed immediately with an outline of all things to come. This includes a slew of quality of life improvements for Destiny 2, like the new Weapon Tier: Masterworks, improved vendor rewards and adding Armor Ornaments. Certain vendors are getting tweaked which includes Banshee-44 the Gunsmith and Xur one of the most important vendors to the player base.

December is seeing to the most overhaul for Destiny 2 by deepening the reward structure, providing more player control over rewards, making shards useful (huge) and other general quality fixes where applicable. More changes will follow in January.

Bungie closes by addressing XP, how they are continuing to adjust it, even saying the new system put in place — which was more of a quick fix — is being tweaked because of it’s flaw in creating a drip feed XP gain for some in-game activities. The blog post closes with Bungie looking forward, restating they will continue this dialog for all future conversations, saying it will be an ongoing process and one they are committed to.
