Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II Launches October 28

Infinity Ward and Activision today formally announced the release date for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II.

The developer and publisher revealed the date in a massive marketing stunt featuring a massive cargo ship and several shipping containers. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II launches October 28, 2022, though what platforms it’ll launch on remain a mystery.

The stunt did provide a few details. Most importantly, it confirmed that Task Force 141 is returning with Captain John Price, Simon “Ghost” Riley, John “Soap” MacTavish, and Kyle ‘Gaz’ Garrick returning from Modern Warfare (2019). All four characters also played prominent roles in the original Modern Warfare trilogy as well. The trailer also introduced a new character, Mexican Special Forces Colonel Alejandro Vargas.

No other details were announced. However, it’s likely we won’t have to wait too much longer for a world premiere. The Call of Duty cycle usually kicks-off with interesting marketing stunts followed closely by world premieres.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II launches October 28. For those wanting some Call of Duty action now, Call of Duty: Vanguard is getting a mid-season update today.
