A new change will be coming to the Season 3 update of Destiny 2 involving microtransactions. The Eververse has not been a very popular topic among fans of the series, and Bungie is hoping to make some changes to help change their minds. Known as the Prismatic Matrix, players should expect more control over how they earn Eververse items as this is one of the development team's goals. The other two goals are to offer a more predictable path each week that guarantees access to specific items and more importantly, fewer duplicate items. At the release, the Prismatic Matrix will feature ten Eververse items from Season 3 each week it is active. Each item is on a knockout list which will allow every player to be guaranteed to receive all featured items for a given week by the tenth activation. Earning items via Bright Engrams, Bright Dust or previous Matrix activations will also knock these off the list. Each activation will guarantee players will receive an item that they have never previously acquired.

In hopes of keeping players enthralled, weekly level-ups will earn a Prismatic Facet which allows one free use of the Prismatic Matrix. These Prismatic Facets stack up to three, so having proper inventory space before earning a rank-up on a given week is important. Players can purchase more activations for 200 silver each. Outside of the Matrix, players can earn Bright Engrams each time they level up along with the ability to purchase these engrams if they want a chance to get everything in the Season 3 catalog. Lastly, Tess will now offer 18 items each week that can be purchased with Bright Dust.
