Once upon a time there was an indie studio by the name of Cyan who created an adventure game named Myst. Maybe you've heard of it? Cyan are still around and just released their latest adventure game - Obduction.

It begins with the player being abducted from their rural surroundings to an alien ghost town. Players must explore their surroundings and maybe figure out a way back home.

Obduction is now available on Steam as a Windows exclusive for $29.99. A virtual reality version is currently in the works, but wasn't available in time for launch.
