For some people, the biggest announcement during today’s Nintendo Direct would be Overwatch, new Pokemon Sword and Shield details, or Terry Bogard coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. For a select group of gamers, though, all of that pales in comparison to the reveal a single title: Deadly Premonition 2. Throughout this entire decade, the original Deadly Premonition has been a cult classic, considered one of the most polarizing games of all time when it was released in 2010. But as years have passed, more demand for it has continued, and now here we are with Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise.

Set across two time periods, Deadly Premonition 2 sees FBI agent Aaliyah Davis investigating an old serial killer case in present-day Boston, while fourteen years earlier, we have Francis York Morgan in New Orleans, with what sounds like a supernatural force uniting the two. Not much is known about the rest of the gameplay or story right now, but the clip below gives us a snippet of combat and a boating section, of all things. While TOYBOX is the developer this time around (with Rising Star Games as the publisher), famed auteur developer SWERY has confirmed over Twitter that he will still be returning as the writer/director.

While Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise won’t hit the Switch until 2020 (no other platforms have been announced yet), there was one another surprise announcement concerning the series: As of today, the original Deadly Premonition is now available on the Nintendo eShop as Deadly Premonition: Origins. So now you have a little extra bit of insanity to tide you over until next year!
