Amazon's Fire TV has given the company a leg up in the Android microconsole race, and now they're releasing an even more inexpensive device. The Fire TV Stick aims to compete with the Chromecast and Roku stick with a $40 price point. Unlike those devices, though, this plays games -- with titles like Sonic the Hedgehog 2, You Don't Know Jack, Tetris, and Zen Pinball 2 playable using the device's remote.

Like the Fire TV, it's got a ton of media streaming apps including Netflix, Hulu Plus, Crackle, iHeart Radio, Pandora, Plex, Twitch, Youtube as well as Amazon Music and Amazon Instant Video. Prime members also gain access to the HBO Collection via Amazon Instant Video, and for the next two days, Prime members can pre-order the device for only $19.

Normally, the Fire TV Stick is $40, but at half-off, it becomes an unbeatable deal for anyone looking to dip their toes into the media streaming pool. Game storage space is a realistic concern, but with this device likely going with lower-spec games and it having 8 GB of on-board flash storage, it should suffice for a longer period of time than the Fire TV.

While you can pre-order the Fire TV Stick now, it won't ship until its release date of November 19, 2014, with pre-orders placed today expected to ship later due to demand exceeding the expected supply. If you know someone looking for a streaming device, you're not going to get a better value than this at $20. If Amazon had similarly slashed the Fire TV's price for a limited time, it probably would've done better, but this price point should really blow up the userbase of the device.
