If you somehow haven't played one of the best indie offerings of the past 18 months, then Steam's got it on sale for yet another crazy-low price. From January 14 until January 17, the '80s-influenced hyper-violent game can be yours for only $2.50. Even at its base price of $10, it's a great value given how memorable it is, and under $3, you cannot go wrong with it. Anyone who grew up in the '80s, or just loves that culture, will adore it. It's a tough game, but well worth learning. You have to approach it as both a twin-stick game, a puzzle game, and a twitch shooter because split-second reflexes mean the difference between life and death, and you have to think about not only every move you're going to make, but every more your enemies are making, where they are in relation to you in the level, and how their weapon's range compares with yours. It may seem like a braindead game in the vein of Smash TV on the surface, but there's a lot more than meets the eye.

With Hotline Miami being a must-have, you must also be wondering if Darksiders II is as well. While the midweek madness graphic on Steam doesn't show it, this sale actually extends to the entire franchise. This means that the original game can be yours for $5, while the follow-up can be yours for $7.50 - or you can get both games and a metric ton of DLC for only $15. While those who picked up the franchise during a humble bundle deal may balk at such a price, realistically, both games are quite good and are well-worth owning. Anyone who imagined a more mature take on a 3D Legend of Zelda game, but with some God of War-style brawling, will love it. Midweek madness sales can be hit or miss, but in the case of this week's offerings, they're both great deals and well worth picking up if you haven't done so already for prior sales - even if you have, you can give these games out as gifts to friends.
