Independent publisher Surprise Attack Games today announced that it has rebranded to Fellow Traveller after shifting its focus to funding, supporting and publishing narrative-driven titles.

Fellow Traveller

Following on from its name change, Fellow Traveller has revealed that two new titles have been added to its publishing label.

The first is cyberpunk taxi-driving adventure title Neo Cab, which Chance Agency announced at E3 last month and is set to launch on Steam and itch.io.

Jump Over the Age’s In Other Waters, an alien ocean exploration title backed on Kickstarter, will be the other addition to Fellow Traveller’s growing catalog of games.

According to the publisher, it aims to collaborate with developers in “exploring new ways for the medium to approach narrative[s].”

Along with its rebrand, Fellow Traveller has launched a brand-new sale for all of its titles on several online stores, including Steam, GOG, Humble Store, Green Man Gaming, Origin, PlayStation Store, Xbox Games Store and Nintendo eShop.

The critically acclaimed 2015 title Hacknet has had its price slashed by up to eighty percent, while the wildly celebrated Orwell: Keeping an Eye on You and its sequel, Orwell Season 2: Ignorance is Strength, are discounted by sixty percent and 25 percent respectively.

The discounts kick off from tomorrow, July 24, and last until July 30 -- the dates do vary for each platform and store.

Based in Melbourne, Australia, managing director Chris Wright founded Surprise Attack in 2011 after the closure of Blue Tongue Entertainment and THQ Studio Australia. The publisher celebrates its fifth anniversary this month, too.

“The indie scene has matured and evolved since I started Surprise Attack in 2011,” Wright said. “Back then, the idea of an indie publisher was seen as an oxymoron, but today there is a large and mature group of indie labels with more launching all the time.

“Just like the indie record labels that inspired us to start the company, we want to build a reputation for a particular flavor of game. We believe this is the next step for indie labels to help developers stand out in an increasingly crowded market and help gamers find the kind of game they love.

“We’re all about the weird and the wonderful and pushing the boundaries of how games tell stories. We hope to attract both the developers and gamers who are into our kind of game to join us on this journey.”
