Going gold is an industry term for the news that the title has been sent off for manufacturing and is fully playable from start to finish.
But that doesn’t mean that development has completely ended on the title, especially as the developers might still need to iron out bugs or other issues.
News of Death Stranding going gold has been met with warm praise from fellow gaming developers.
God of War director Cory Barlog said that it was “inspiring to see such an incredible original work come to life.”
He added: “I look forward to getting lost in a world I’m certain will both amaze and befuddle me!”
Guerrilla Games managing director Hermen Hulst congratulated Kojima Productions and said it was “so great for us to follow your inspiring journey every step of the way.”
He continued: “We’re gonna raise a glass in your honor later.”

The famed Metal Gear Solid creator founded his independent studio in December of that year and announced a partnership with Sony Interactive Entertainment for Death Stranding.
Kojima debuted his PS4-exclusive title at Sony’s E3 press conference in 2016 and features an ensemble cast.
The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus plays main protagonist Sam Porter Bridges and Hannibal star Mads Mikkelsen assumes the role of chief antagonist Cliff.
Kojima’s upcoming title also features Guillermo del Toro, Nicolas Winding Refn, Lindsay Wagner, Troy Baker, Léa Seydoux, Margaret Qualley and Tommie Earl Jenkins.
Death Stranding is slated to launch on November 8 for PS4.
