Death Stranding is ‘Mind-Blowing, Epic, the Future, Incredible,’ Says Norman Reedus

Norman Reedus has described the upcoming Death Stranding as “mind-blowing, epic, the future and incredible.”

That’s according to Aki Saito, who is the newly appointed head of marketing and communications for Kojima Productions. He posted a tweet that showed him doing a “short interview” with The Walking Dead star.

Reedus, who featured in Hideo Kojima’s P.T. and was one of the stars in the now-canceled Silent Hills, was first revealed in Death Stranding’s debut trailer at Sony’s E3 press conference in 2016.

Since then, it has been confirmed that his character’s name in the action title will be Sam.

It’s not the first time that the 49-year-old American actor has teased fans about the title. Earlier this year, Reedus made an appearance on the B&H Photography Podcast and explained how he was blown away by Kojima’s concept for the title.

“The concept is so mind-blowing, because it’s not like, you know, ‘Kill everybody and win the game,’ it’s a connecting thing,” he said.

“It’s like the opposite. And, you know, it’s so ahead of its time. And there’s elements of social media in it, and the idea is that — you know, you have so many games and so many parts of millennial culture, I guess, is being alone in a room.

“And you lose physical contact with people. This is after that and the re-establishing of that physical contact.”

Kojima left Konami after the release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain in 2015 and would later announce that he had entered into a partnership with Sony Interactive Entertainment for a new PlayStation 4 title.

The Metal Gear Solid creator, who was absent from The Game Awards 2018 last week, has recruited the likes of Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, Troy Baker, Lindsay Wagner, Emily O’Brien and Tommie Earl Jenkins for the title.

Story specifics remain unclear for the title, with the Japanese developer yet to confirm an official release date.
